Beach Clean on the Solway Coast, North Cumbria, UK.

We're a voluntary group devoted to clearing rubbish from the beaches, salt marshes and sand dunes of the Solway coast.  We hold one event per week - sometimes two - and get an average turn-out of 15 people.  On Thursday 7th June, 10am - midday, we'll do a beach clean at Wolsty Banks between Silloth and Beckfoot.  We've done two beach cleans there already but we plan to get further north than before to reach a stretch of coast which has a lot of rubbish.  It's mostly plastic, including nylon rope from trawlers, net, bottles, buckets, disposable cigarette lighters, shreds of polythene and all other sorts of floating trash.  All equipment provided.

Beach Cleanup

We are a small Montessori Adolescent Program in Ensenada, Baja California. This year we had visitors from another Montessori Adolescent Program in Puerto Peñasco, Sonora, which is also a beach town.

First we went to the beach and did a cleanup for an hour. Then we ate some watermelon and went for pizza. After that, we went back to school and classified all the trash we collected. Finally, we had a meeting to discuss what we can do and the students from both schools decided to make a video about the trash on the beach in each of our communities.
