“World Oceans Day” Launching “Beach and Marine Environment Protection Council” (BMEPC)

As part of “World Oceans Day” on 8th June 2017 at 10:00 am, the Hotels & Resorts that are located on the Coastal belt fromKanyakumari to Kasaragod .will be cleaning the beaches in their respective areas and prove the world what we can do when we are united.

The Hotels & Resorts situated on the coastal belt of South India have formed a Council“Beach and Marine Environment Protection Council” (BMEPC) aimed to “Protect the Ocean & Marine life”and its official launching will be done on the 8th June 2017 on the “World Oceans day”.

The objective of this council is to educate the citizen and the staff members of hotels and restaurants situated near to the sea shore about the waste disposable which should be carefully placed in the appropriate place so that it doesn’t end up fouling our oceans, rivers and lakes. We cannot take our marine environment for granted, nor treat it carelessly.

BMEPC will be developing strategies to act on long term solutions to the impact that Plastic, rubbish, and disposal of raw sewage and to keep the beaches clean through continuous process. A mass awareness will be given to keep the beaches clean through continuous process.

As a prelude to this initiative, a CEO’s under water conference, was conducted on10th April 2017 at Kovalam beach for the first time in the World  for highlighting the issue. The conference pledged for“Protection of Ocean & Marine life”and  drew up a detailed plan for a long term and sustainable itinerary for the campaign.

Hotels & Resorts situated on the Coastal belt of South India will form an agenda by partnering to reduce marine debris by constant routine beach & under water cleaning in association with agencies experts in underwater diving and Marine studies to have a close watch on keeping the Marine life safe from debris & pollution.

There will be approximately 40 hotels coming in the belt but we will rope in backwater resorts also in the future. Being hotelier and tourism service provider in the beach front of Kovalam,

we felt like ourselves there are many fellow hoteliers who are there along the coastal belt. We all can start the mission and take up to entire Indian Coastal belt.

We solicit the whole hearted support of all including the print and electronic media for the success of this noble venture and request that maximum publicity be given through all available sources.
