World Oceans Day: Art Sprouts Gallery Opening

We are stocked to open Art Sprouts Gallery doors to you on the World Oceans Day. We are dedicating this event to protecting the world's oceans. Did you know that RESTORING THE OCEAN COULD FEED 1 BILLION PEOPLE A HEALTHY SEAFOOD MEAL EVERY DAY? To support the cause, we will donate 50% of the event sales to the #Oceana, an organization working exclusively to protect and restore the oceans on a global scale. We are also partnering with#RiverSeaChocolates, a local chocolatier who uses sail transport as a viable emission-free option to bring cacao beans, to design the World Oceans chocolate bar.

About the artist: Lukian Shelehoff-Zirbes is a six-year-young artist, who uses his art to support his passion for the great outdoors. With his most recent art campaign, he is venturing to elevate awareness of the problem of overfishing and pollution of our waterways. His paintings depict ocean dwellers and tell their stories. Such as the painting“Seal-nation", a work that tells a story of a seal who didn’t like the left-over pizza that was being dumped into the ocean by the garbage trucks, so the seal called upon his neighbors to clean up the mess.

World Oceans Day: Our Commitment as a Business

We are hosting an event at our office that will review the effects of plastics on our oceans. We will review what plastic is, the chemicals found in plastic, and how it poisons the environement. We will review the biggest sources of plastic waste, in particular the ones most found in our office. We will then go over our office recycling program, and are creating a program that employees can bring in their plastic carry bags for us to take to a local drop off for recycling. World Oceans Dinner
Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin, Noordwijk aan Zee
World Oceans Dinner

Good Fish Foundation (GFF) is a young environmental NGO that works together with the market to increase the demand for sustainable seafood. GFF is the founder of the Dutch Seafood Guide, that is currently in use in 28 countries. With our restaurant programme, we advise the largest community of chefs globally. By motivating chefs to work with Good Fish instead of having RED fish  (e.g. threatened, non-sustainable or illegally caught fish) on their menu, we want to create a positive wave through the entire Dutch restaurant sector. Chefs will be inspired to serve only ‘good fish’ from World Oceans Day 2018 (8 June) and onwards.

On the evening of World Oceans Day we will organise the first World Oceans Dinner in the Netherlands. Starchefs will prepare a spectacular menu of sustainable seafood for a variaty of important people. Chefs from all over the Netherlands will organise smaller Good Fish events and make a joint statement to serve only Good Fish on their menus.
