From 25 May to 24 June 2018, in celebration of World Oceans Day, S.E.A. Aquarium launched Ocean Fest. The month-long event aimed to raise awareness for ocean conservation through an eco-marketplace showcasing ocean-friendly products, CSI-style educational challenges, underwater performances, and upcycling workshops.
Our first ocean eco-market features more than 10 eco-friendly booths selling a great collection of well-designed and reusable home products from upcycled LED lamps to organic, microplastic-free beauty products.
Solve marine crimes at Ocean Lab
At this interactive zone, kids assume the role of a crime scene investigator to solve the murders of several marine animals. They get to review evidence such as plastic trash found in the victims’ stomachs to deduce what led to the animals’ demise.
Interactive underwater show: “Harmony’s Message”
With a catchy theme song sung by the main character Harmony, this sing-along underwater show conveyed the problem of plastic pollution and how everyone can help to keep plastic out of the ocean.
the S.E.A.A. (S.E.A. Aquarium’s conservation group), this daily workshop teaches guests learn how to upcycle everyday objects such as plastic bottles, milk cartons and old t-shirts into useful items such as terrariums and wallets.
Interactive learning booths and pledging station
Interactive booths were set up around the aquarium to educate and inspire guests on the importance of the three R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle. They are also encouraged to become a part of the solution to reducing plastic pollution by taking a Plastic Ocean Challenge pledge.
It has been an exciting month of sharing marine conservation knowledge with all our guests and we will continue to inspire more people who walk through our doors. Click here to learn more about the latest happenings at S.E.A. Aquarium and Guardians of the S.E.A.A.
