Sechelt Oceans Day

 

The Sunshine Coast Conservation Association invites you to celebrate World Oceans Day by joining us for the third annual SECHELT OCEANS DAY!
Saturday, June 8th, 12 - 4 pm at Friendship Park

Come on down for an afternoon of FREE family fun featuring ocean-themed activities and games on the downtown Sechelt waterfront. Learn about ocean ecology and conservation, and celebrate our spectacular coastal marine environment!

Pick up your Oceans Day Passport at our info booth, and gain stamps at each activity for your chance to win prizes.

As part of our celebration, we plan to do the following:
  • Event is open to the public
  • Media would be welcome
  • Event will include some special activities or engagements for youth and/or young adults
    Under 12,Ages 12-18,College/University Age
    We'll have over 15 local and regional organizations sharing information on Oceans and Sustainability, each featuring an interactive activity for all ages. Participants pick up an Oceans Day Passport, and for each activity you do, you get a stamp. The more stamps - the more raffle tickets you'll get for a chance to win fantastic prizes!
    Kids and the young-at-heart can pick up a chalk-art kit, and creatively colour a salmon along the Sechelt Pier.
    All ages are welcome to lend a hand for the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup along the waterfront.
  • Event will be highlighting organization's own efforts to reduce use of plastic
