Come celebrate World Oceans Day aloha-style with the Maui Ocean Center Marine Institute and Maui Ocean Center on Saturday, June 8, 2019! This year we are focusing on preventing plastic solutions and sharing solutions to inspire and active the global community.
We invite you and your `ohana (family) to start the morning off with our Malama Land & Sea Beach and Reef Clean-Up (Kealia Coastal Boardwalk, 8-10 a.m.). This event is put on by our nonprofit, MOC Marine Institute and is sponsored by Wahi Straws, promoting ecofriendly, ocean-safe straws and utensils.
Then, hop over to Maui Ocean Center to continue the celebration! Enjoy amazing, local live music with Maui Community Band, Nā Wai ʻEhā, and a headlining special guest your keiki will be sure to love! With entertaining ocean-themed movies, a Chef Diver presentation, FREE face painting, science-based arts and crafts, a wood carving show, coconut weaving, hula lessons, and more, this event will have you swimming from one fun thing to the next. Don’t forget to share your love for the ocean with your personal hand-written Ocean Pledge, take a selfie, and tag us: #worldoceansdaymoc! Plus, enjoy Maui Ocean Center's three new exhibits, the Island of Kaho`olawe, a 3D show about the Humpbacks of Hawai`i, numerous vendors, including KIRC and Whale Trust, three Dive Links, plus a behind the scene tour with MOC Marine Institute.
Grab your AquariumPLUS passes online. Kama`aina and military discounts are available.
We are so excited to celebrate with you and your `ohana!
+ Bring in a reusable cup for free beverage refills and a sustainable, bamboo Wahi Straw (limited to first 200 guests).
