Reef Recovery at Magnetic island

This is an opportunity for government, industry, scientists and community to learn and participate in the new Reef Recovery project at Magnetic Island. We are planning the event to coincide with World Ocean Day 2016.

What we will be doing-

1. The organisers will give a short talk on the project methodology and risks

2. We will snorkel and set up a study area and undertake baseline research on habitat, remove macroalgae from a set area (under approval from GBRMPA and Qld Fisheries permits), measure the weight and number of macroalgae and then complete a post-exercise survey of habitat.

3. We will discuss research methodology, communication, partnership and next steps for the project.
